Home remedies for smoking

Smoking causes cancer. The effects are clear. Despite this millions of people smoke, and thousands die each year with cancer. Smoking offers temporal relief. Or one could say pseudo-temporal relief. People are tempted to believe that smoking can alleviate their stress. But the fact is that smoking only aggravates stress levels. Instead of taking in a mouthful of smoke, it is better to inhale a lung-full of air to alleviate stress.

What are the home remedies to combat smoking addiction? Although more than a home remedy, it is important to stop smoking completely, yet, here are some…

Coenzyme Q 10, also known as ubiquinone is a vitamin-like substance. It is highly beneficial for smokers, since it has an anti-smoking inducing quality to it. If 200mg of this substance is taken everyday, the crave for smoking decreases.

Grape seed extract has powerful anti-oxidizing properties. It sets-right any damages to the lung due to smoking. Remember that grape seed extract is never a complete cure for lung damage.

Intake of adequate amount of Vitamin C everyday fortifies the immune system. Smoking deprecates the Vitamin C levels in the body. Lack of Vitamin C can cause scurvy, muscle loss, and the inability to recover from injuries. Many types of fruit has Vitamin C content. Frozen concentrates of orange juice are very high in Vitamin C.

Taking cayenne pepper removes remnants of nicotine in the lungs. Cravings can be controlled to a great extent by taking cayenne pepper regularly. But remember to take it in moderation. Too much intake can cause acidity problems.

Understanding Addiction

Peripheral Vascular Disease

Image via Wikipedia

Addiction is a medical condition that is difficult to overcome. In the current society, addiction is a growing problem that thousands of individuals battle with. Growing family problems and cultural influences encourage the condition and make it difficult to stop addictions. In order to prevent and eliminate dangerous habits, individuals should understand the elements of addiction.

Having the two elements of tolerance and withdrawal, addiction begins with emotions. After engaging in activity, a person may enjoy the feeling and get the sensation to try the act again. A person smoking marijuana for the first time may like the feeling that they drug brings and want to try it again. As the frequency of use increases, individuals become immune to bad habits and require stronger substances to satisfy emotional needs. Time progression leads to a bad habit turning into an addiction. The individual is no longer capable of ceasing the activity on their own. Individuals essentially tolerate bad habits until they become immune to them.

Tolerance eventually leads to withdrawal. The withdrawal process occurs when an individual has a physical and emotional reaction after being denied access to the habit. A person addicted to drugs and alcohol may become hostile when deprived of substances. Likewise, individuals addicted to food or sex may become depressed when access to activities are denied. Persons severely addicted to habits or substances may become ill during the withdrawal process. Such individuals have trained their bodies to become immune to the habit and complete withdrawal may be dangerous.

Signs of Addiction

Someone with an addiction can lose his job, his family and even his life if he is not treated. There are ways to tell whether someone needs treatment for addiction that you can look for. If you see the signs of addiction, talk to the person about getting him help as quickly as possible.

1) Conversation becomes difficult.

One of the first signs of addiction to anything is that the person begins to lose the ability to carry on a simple conversation. If it is a physical dependency, then speech may be slurred. A mental dependency such as gambling will show signs of being unable to focus on a conversation for more than a couple of minutes. If you are finding it difficult to hold a conversation with someone who used to be lucid, then that could be the first signs of addiction.

2) A pronounced change in behavior.

Addiction shows itself in many ugly ways. Someone who is addicted only wants their addiction, and nothing else. If you notice that a person has become short-tempered, violent or irresponsible when she used to never display these characteristics, then addiction could be the problem.

3) Other problems begin to appear.

Someone with an addiction will begin spending all of his money on the addiction and you will notice him having financial problems. When the addiction takes hold, the person’s memory can start to go and they become unreliable. Do not ignore these signs of addiction.

People try to rationalize the signs of addiction as some other kind of problem. The longer you let someone stay addicted, the worse the problem will get.

There are always options available to help pay for your medical care, and some of those options are more affordable than you may think. Do not deny yourself or your family medical assistance because of cost. Explore your options and find ways to make sure that you are able to get the medical care you need at all times.

1) Look into health insurance.

Talk to your human resources manager about the health insurance plans offered at your company. Some people avoid taking on health insurance because of the ongoing cost, but trying to pay high medical bills in a time of crisis can be much more expensive. Look into your options, and take on a health insurance plan you can afford.

2) Try the public options.

If you cannot afford health insurance at work, then lok into the health insurance programs offered by your state government and the federal government. If you qualify for Medicare or Medicaid, then most of your health expenses can be covered. If you run into a family medical emergency, contact these government agencies to find out about medical bill paying assistance.

3) Look into pre-tax savings plans.

Many companies offer pre-tax medical savings programs that allow you to put a small portion of each paycheck into a fund that you can access to help pay medical bills. The money is taken from your pay before federal and state income taxes are, and it can enable you to pay hundreds of dollars a year in non-reimbursed medical expenses.

Look into your options when it comes to paying for medical care to make sure you and your family are covered.

The Advantages of the 4D Ultrasound

Being pregnant can be both an exciting and frightening time: exciting because a new life is growing inside of your body; frightening because so many changes are happening to you. No need to let the worries take over though, there is help available.

It is very easy to follow your progress on a pregnancy calendar site. These sites allow you know what to expect and when throughout your pregnancy. It also gives you an idea of what changes your baby is going through.

Ultrasound is another important way that you can follow your baby. The traditional 2D is stil l used to follow the baby’s growth and development, but the newest thing is 4D Ultrasound. 2D ultrasound was difficult to see and grainy, but 4D allows you to see your baby better. 4D is a whole new experience.

With 4D it is possible to actually see the baby’s features in detail. The scan is able to display the entire baby and, if you desire, identify the sex unmistakably. 4D allows the doctors to do tests that were otherwise not possible and make it easier to identify abnormalities that were previously not shown on 2D.

4D is a noninvasive procedure that can be completed in less than 30 minutes. It can be done during weeks 28-36 of prenatal development. The mother-to-be will be provided with a DVD to take home. This is great for sharing with extended family.

Sadly, most insurance will not cover the expense. 4D is considered an elective procedure, so it will be up to you to cover the costs if you choose to have it done.

Get 2nd Hand Medical Equipment Free

Sometimes we use medical equipment so frequently that it makes sense to buy our own machines instead of renting them. Then, for whatever the reason, the end of needing it occurs and there’s an unused, perfectly good working medical unit sitting there.

You could sell it, but there are so many people that are sick and don’t have insurance or money to rent or purchase them. Donating it makes perfect sense, and you can even write it off if it’s donated to a charity.

Get or Give Second-Hand Medical Equipment Free

There’s a web site called, Freecycle.org, (actually, it’s a Yahoo! group) where people post items they need or want to give away. It’s divided into groups by city and people post the general area they live in with the item and condition of it. Anyone who has it or wants it sends a message and they take care of it from there.

Michael, of Portland, Oregon, said, “I saw a post from someone who needed firewood. I emailed them and told them there was trees cut down and the wood has been lying in the yard ever since. A smile slowly formed as he got to this part. Those people cleaned all the wood out of my yard and then they thanked me!

Donate Used Medical Equipment to the Sick and Needy

Posting an ad offering used medical equipment will find the right person quickly. And if there’s a need for the equipment, just scan the ads to see if any are posted. If not, post a want ad, then give it time, as many Freecycle users only get to look at the ads on weekends.

The posts are all time/date stamped. They do like new-comers to make their first post one that’s giving something away. Find something around the house that isn’t being used and post it. Be honest about the description and don’t forget to put what neighborhood it’s in.

The concentration of the anesthetic is adjusted in a precision vaporizer or by using sets of mixing valves. The vaporizers have to ability to be calibrated for a specified anesthetic gas. The anesthesia circuits in a machine can be non-rebreathing or re-breathing. The re-breathing circuits generally have a typical circle system used with large animals. the re-breathing circuits help conserve an animal’s body heat and the anesthetic gas. A non-rebreathing circuits is generally used for smaller animals. When looking into a used anesthesia machine, you want to make sure that all the parts are there, including a waste gas scavenging system. Taking care of it individual’s heart is vitally important for living an optimal lifestyle. One way to monitor the heart is with specialized electrocardiography equipment. Sometimes this equipment is very expensive, but it’s possible to obtain electrocardiography equipment at lower costs by purchasing used medical equipment in this area. Whether you are using this type of equipment for individual use, or for medical practice, shopping for used medical equipment lowers your expenses without lowering your standards.

Electrocardiography (EKG or ECG) monitoring equipment targets and monitors the electrical activity in a person’s heart over a period of time. It does this by recording via skin electrodes. Since the sensors are on the skin, the process is noninvasive. The equipment detects amplified electrical changes on the skin caused when a heart muscle depolarises during a heart beat. When it rests, the heart muscle cell has a charge across its cell membrane.

When the charge is reduced, it’s called the polarization. This activates mechanisms in a cell, causing the cell to contract. Healthy hearts have an orderly progression of waves of depolarization triggered by cells in the sinoatrial node. This spreads through the atrium and passes through intrinsic conduction pathways then moves on to spread over the ventricles. Electrocardiography equipment detects small falls and rises in voltage between two electrodes that are placed on either side of the human heart. On paper, it looks like a wavy line, and indicates the heart rhythm as well as any weaknesses in the muscle of the heart.

Electrocardiography equipment is used to determine some abnormalities of the heart rhythms. In particular, it’s used to detect abnormal rhythms that result from damage to conductive tissue carrying electrical signals as well as unusual rhythms caused by electrolyte imbalances. There are different types of electrocardiogram machines on the market. You can purchase used/ refurbished electrocardiogram equipment in different styles ranging from large monitors to hand-held versions.
